SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing. Search Engine Marketing involves the promotion of websites by increasing their visibility in search engine results pages (SERPS) through optimization and advertising. Usually, SEM refers to paid search activities such as PPC campaigns. However, if you use both SEO and paid search, it technically all falls under the “SEM” umbrella.
